Description

Maitake otherwise known as Hen-of-the Woods is a popular culinary mushroom. Studied for its medicinal compounds. It is used by practitioners of natural medicine and is the feature of phase II Clinical trials.

Maitake extract comes in liquid (tincture) or powder form. Extract powders typically have a higher concentration of active compounds and for convenience we also offer our extract powder in a capsule pill form.

Our capsules are made from Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose. They are Vegan & Gluten Free 00 size and contain approximately 540mg of extract powder per capsule (~50g per 90).

Tasting Notes

Maitake mushrooms have a rich, earthy flavour with a deep savory, umami taste. More subtle than Shiitake but have a stronger savory quality than Porcini with a nutty flavor.
